About the annual conference (EDBI)
What is and which are the EDBI objectives in Eastern and Southern Africa?
The “Ease of
Doing Business” (EDBI) initiative, which has to do with the ‘Ease of
Doing Business´ in Eastern and Southern Africa, is grounded in the interest and
need expressed by several countries from these two regions of learning and
sharing information and experiences about the reforms implemented in the scope
of Doing Business. In August 2010, the World Bank, in collaboration with the
Regional Multidisciplinary Centre of Excellence (RMCE) and some Governments,
designed the EDBI, which has been gradually refined over the years.
The two main objectives of EDBI are as follows:
One of the ways to concretize these objectives is
carrying out an Annual Conference, in which knowledge and experiences from
various countries is presented, promoting regional collaboration in reforms
based on “peer-to-peer learning”.
Expected Participants
On the 3 days of the Conference, about 200 participants are expected from 25 countries, in particular renowned people of the public and private sectors involved in reforms about improving the business environment in the region.
